How do I view, edit, and copy bookmarks?
Without having to leave My Home, you can view, edit, and copy the latest updates to My developerWorks bookmarks -- by using the Bookmarks widget. The Bookmarks widget thus helps you stay current with what your colleagues are reading and discover new resources to build your skills.
Adding the Bookmarks widget
If the Bookmarks widget is not already on your My widgets page, you can add it by clicking the Customize button on the My widgets page. Select Add Content, and select Bookmarks (or All). Choose the Bookmarks widget, and it now appears on your My widgets page.
Viewing bookmarked items
Do either of the following in any Bookmarks widget view:
Click the bookmark title to view the bookmarked item.
Click Details to open the bookmark in a pop-up window. To close the pop-up window, click the Close button.
Editing one of your bookmarks
Do the following in any Bookmarks widget view:
Click Details under the bookmark you want to edit.
Click Edit this bookmark.
Make your changes in the Edit Bookmark form.
Click Save.
Copying a bookmark
Do the following from the Popular Bookmarks, My Watchlist, or Recent Bookmarks widget view (see "Switching to different views" below):
Click Details under the bookmark you want to copy.
Click Add to my bookmarks under the bookmark title.
Complete the New Bookmark form.
Click Save.
Switching to different views
Once the Bookmarks widget is on your My widgets page, it offers four different views that you can toggle between to access different information. To change to a different view of the Bookmarks widget, click the down arrow under the widget title and select one of the views:
My Bookmarks: Displays the most recent updates you've entered in Bookmarks. You can also edit your bookmarks from this view.
Popular Bookmarks: Displays a list of all the public bookmarks shared in Bookmarks, in order of most popular. You can edit your own links from this view and copy bookmarks to your personal bookmarks list.
My Watchlist: Displays a list of the most recent bookmarks added to your watchlist. You can edit your own links from this view and copy bookmarks to your personal bookmarks list.
Recent Bookmarks: Displays a list of the most recent public bookmarks added in the Bookmarks tool. This view also provides links for you to edit your own bookmarks and copy other people's bookmarks to your personal bookmark list.
Or you can add any of the four views (My Bookmarks, Popular Bookmarks, My Watchlist, and Recent Bookmarks) as independent widgets, so they are always visible on your My widgets page, and you don't have to toggle between views. To add either or both widgets, click the Customize button on the My widgets page, select Add Content, and select Profiles (or All). Choose the widgets you want to add.
