    it stands to reason, yes, that their chances of going higher are better with a college degree. Most chiefs of police depts have a college degree in criminal justice, or something similar

    It may depend on which part of the country


    you are applying. I just read at one site in 


    Arlington Texas, where they expect four years


    of college.
