There should be a nut beneath the pop-out dispenser for softener. You will need a deep socket to get at it, as it is way down, be careful that no washers fall and when it is off, the agitator pulls right up and off! Make sure that you reassemble correctly, grease anything that has grease on it before you reassemble it.
