      US Customs knows when you have entered the USA & Canada knows when you return Home.

          depends on where you enter U.S.   But if you enter right there, where the customs entry point is, then yes, b/c they're going to ask you a lot of questions and look at your car; and you have to produce your passport.....or " an enhanced drivers license "  which mean a license with a chip in it.....so they can know all about you .
