      Sounds to me like the thermocouple, that detects the heat from the burner, is faulty.


      When it does not detect heat from the burner, it shuts down the gas


      Contact a gas serviceman, WBMS

        depends on type of pilot. hot surface or flame pilot. thermocoupler or flame sensor may be bad. fan stays on is normal for some .
