Be very careful. If you can get your dog to let you see under the nail, sometimes there is a channel from the tip of the toe nail to where the quick begins. If there is no channel, then just take the tips off for now and have a professional cut the nails further back showing you the point to cut to. If you have a Petco near you, I believe they clip dog nails for $5.00
