This is a general question and answer forum. We answer questions. We do not run series. 

I usually turn the circuit breaker off for the TV and tell everyone that it burned up a few days before with stinking smoke and sparks…so we’ll just have to sit around and have a party among ourselves. Then I start with a story of my own and let it go from there story. I find that many of my acquaintances and family may not have talked with anyone, but briefly all year because their lives are so busy. Folks get together and watch a football game while drinking beer. Having conversations and working on problems together is a forgotten skill.The TV box is made to end social gatherings and real communications between people. I use mine for news and weather and less and less every year.

When I have company, I do it the easy way. I don't turn the television on...no excuses...I never assume that visitors come to see my television set...they have their own! I had one visitor who would walk in, pick up the remote control and turn on my TV until I asked him that very question. "Did you come to see me or my TV"? He never did that again. :)
