Young,  old,  healthy,  sick,  big,  small,  short-haired,  long-haired,  exotic,  pedigree,  or  just  a  plain  strayed  one  off  the  street,  I've  had  and  loved  them  all.

Any cat is a good cat.  I’d leave the big big cats in the jungle though.  Get a cat at the pound like Country Bumpkin says ... or get a kitten there.

American Shorthair - cat breed is a very popular cat breed, especially with families as they are very tolerant of children. They are loyal, easy-going and take things in their stride.

make sure you get a short -haired cat. All of mine are.  I'm glad I don't have to go thru what my g.friend does with her long haired cat. Try to get a kitten that seems to want to come to you and likes to be handled.
