I don't know about the other states, here in Sth. Aus., a specialist can prescibe Marijuana for the terminally ill, such as M.S., a good friend of mine in the advanced stage of M.S. was prescibed Marijuana to help him cope with severe depession when he lost the use of his legs and limited arm use, it was the only way he could keep sane, unfortunately he only lived 6 years from when diagnosed, it was heartbreaking  to see a man deteriorate so quickly. Any how i think all drugs should be legalised under Govt. control it would also relieve the criminal aspect.

I agree with medical but not recreational. Recreational use is just the start of allowing other drugs. Drugs are always the downfall of any society.

Medical use is definitely something to be looked into and taken seriously. I have a friend who depends on grass to keep his severe illness in check, nothing else will work (prescribed) and he now runs the risk of obtaining it and using it illegally.....

Controversional - but I feel legalisation (supervised) of all these type recreational drugs may be a better option as to come off these is extremely difficult with the most awful withdrawal effects and replaced with methadone e.g. heroine. Stop the drug pushers and prevent these drugs being cut with other junk as most of the street drugs are on the streets.

let the Governments collect the taxes and free the cops to do what we expect of them /One would have thought the Americans would have learnt from Prohibition /well maybe not / they never learn anything /  fill the gaols with petty crime whilst criminals go free

legalized drugs is just the thin edge of the wedge,if you allow one range of drugs you open the door to the rest.there is also  growing evidence that continued use of  weed causes paranoia and psychosis.the case for medical use is different,if it helps use it under supervision only.

Excessive use of marajuana can cause incredible paranoia - I am not sure about psychosis - but if there is a slight propensity to "schizophrenia" a dubious diagnosis these days the person can display extreme psychological illness, and are given an anti-psychotic drug which renders them almost obsolete - they gave anti-psychotic drugs to people with dementia at home and in nursing homes rendering them to be zombie-like and it is now banned here to give these drugs for dementia.

poppy3 the only anti-psychotic that i use is beer at the w/end,that renders me zombie like and in a almost dementia like state...

All cultures have had their go at a wide range of recreational drugs. In my opinion I think no drug should be restricted or limited in its use and/abuse. Naturally, under such circumstances, some folk would die from an overdose, addiction, toxic effects etc. I do not see this as a bad effect because I do not believe in death. We learn our lessons, don’t take poison if you want to live etc. Having learned the lesson, even with widespread use of a dangerous drug those who have experienced the mal-effects of it will avoid its use. There have been many drug cults in our collective past involving many things we would not consider today. For example…spider cults….existed and are no longer around. Many of the ancient poison cults looked for some form of hallucinogenic and imbibed in them seeking enlightenment or just a wild ride to deaths doorstep as entertainment. Why would I not use drugs like that today? Because I have learned that it does not help me achieve my goals. The culture may know the hazards of drugs and outlaw their use, but that will not stop many from going there out of curiosity such as the Adam and Eve story. That bit resonates generationally and all our efforts to stop the use of dangerous drugs will have no effect until it is experienced in every persons experience enough to convince everyone to shine it on.

Honestly, it is absolutely insane how the government demonized marijuana years ago, and some people are still believing that propoganda. Our government should quit wasting our money and resources going after marijuana busts, and start going after the really dangerous drugs.

Fifty years from now, marijuana busts will just be another sad, pathetic, ludicrous chapter in history. It's just too bad our governments approach this issue like giant stumbling drunks with often moronic, misapplied logic...that is so far from the truth, that sadly it is outright laughable!

i would love it ,i am a cancer person back injury etc that all i can take for pain and i must watch copd as well i need the pills
