It depends on the Blu-ray manufacturer.
Try going to their website and look up the player in the help section (the instruction manual might have the info on how to do it).
There will usually be a section addressing updates.
Also, if your Blu-ray player has an ethernet port on the back, hook it up to the internet and check the menu for an update icon.
