do publicans have to keep the outside of their pub tidy?

One of our local pubs does not tidy up after it's customers. The area surrounding the pub is covered in cigarette buts, bottles, cans and other rubbish. Do they have a duty of care to keep it clean?

    In a word, yes.

Best to check with your local council though.

I am no lawyer but common sense tells me he is not responsible for other peoples actions off the premises and common sense tells me it would be in his own interest to have a tidy side-walk and area in the immediate vicinity of the pub.
