    Are free grants taxable?

    I was called by some organization telling me I had been awarded a free grant for $7000. Then they wanted a $260 wire transfer fee. The next day they said I needed to pay $1500 in taxes on the grant.Like  a fool I paid it. All of this money was sent to India. A day later they said my grant couldn't be transferred until I paid another $1800. I'm not sending it.  This is a scam isn't it.?

    If I have to take a guess....YES!!! Call your local police or fraud line to see if they can help you. ASAP!!!!!
