    the car is a passat 1.8t about 11 years old, w reg.

      I'd see if I could find someone who is familiar with disc players, at an installation place perhaps, and see what they might be able to come up with for ideas. Somewhere in there, there might be a release that can be pushed, and allow it to cycle through.
