what are the differences and similarities between a historians style of writing and that of a journalist

A historian's style would be more of documenting the times, people, and events, with a focus and explanation of how things had come to pass as they did. Providing background to events or times would be one way of explaining it, with a tendency to be writing more from a third person perspective.

On the other hand, a journalist would focus more on what was presently occuring around them, in more of almost being more exclusively in a first person perspective.
