Simply deactivate.
Having a normal life without any social networks involved actually feels very satisfying. Finding yourself not stuck on Facebook, uploading statuses and photos, checking to see how many people liked it or not is quite relieving. Do it, and focus more on meeting new people out there and intriguing them, not the overloaded phony bandwagon.

Login to your Facebook account, go to the "My Account" page, go to the deactivate your account section and follow the "Click here" link. You will have a short form to complete with a reason for deactivating your account. Click the appropriate button that lists your reason for deactivating your account. You also have to opt out of the Facebook emails or you will continue to get invites so you will need to check that button also.
