To activate voice control press and hold the Home button for two seconds until you hear a double-beep. Then speak clearly into the iPhone or headset microphone.
Hold the iPhone 4 the same way as you would when making a call. If using the headsets with built-in mic then let the cord hang freely rather than pulling it up to your mouth. If your iPhone 4 has a case and you are experiencing problems then try removing the case as it may be obscuring the mic.
Reminder: You can hold down the hold button or the handset button to activate voice controls even when the iPhone 4 is asleep and locked
Below is a full list of the recognized voice commands:
To call someone in Contacts... Say "Call" or "Dial" and then the name of whoever you want to call. If the person has more than one number listed you can add "Home" or "Mobile". Full example: "Call Dave Crane Mobile" or "Call Dave Crane on his Mobile"
Dial a number... Say "Call" or "Dial" and then the number. Full example: "Call 0208 675 2762"
Correct a mistake... Say "No" or "Not that" or "Not that one" or - really - "Nope"
Music playback controls... Say "Play" or "Play music". Other controls are "Pause" or "Pause music", "Next song", "Previous song"
Play a specific album artist or playlist (not song)... Say "Play" then "Album" or "Artist" or "Playlist" then the name of the album/artist/playlist. Full example: "Play album Born to Run"
Shuffle the current playlist or album... Say "Shuffle"
Get info about the current song.. Say "What song is this" or "Who sings this song" or "What's playing"
Play similar songs... Say "Genius" or "Play more like this" or "Play more songs like this"
Get Voice Control help Say "Help"
Exit Voice Control Say "Cancel"
