      Start by at least filing a police report. This way if his threats escalate, there is a record that he's done it before or is continuing to do it. It's also a record in case he even slaps you at some point. Start building a case against him now.

        Yes Canada is quite modern.  Threatening someone has been against the law for about a gazillion years.  Report it to the police.

          I'm not sure but you may be able to apply for an exparte order (that legally keeps that person away from you)
