I love being alone. I've done the relationship thing most of my life. I'm happiest with no one to answer to. I like myself better than to have someone trying to change me. I'm good company and truly enjoy living for myself rather than for someone else.

I'm sorry for your loss. She felt you were worth loving and being with. Find in yourself what she saw and appreciate your own company. Believe it or not, you will attract more people to you when you can do that.

    Thanks Millie and Colleen.
    but me !

Are you saying that you want to be alone and don't think anyone else is comfortable and content being alone? Or that you DON'T want to be alone and think you are the only person who IS alone?

I am single and do not have a wide social circle. While I wouldn't object to having a "boyfriend/lover type" in my life, I am really glad that I'm not married or living with someone right now.

Enjoy yourself. It's later than you think.

    You know my heart pain:(

Find some local activities to attend; rodeos, street fairs, karaoke nights, house of worship, concerts in the park to attend. Look for opportunities to volunteer in fundraisers or community service projects.
SMILE, make eye contact with people, be interested in THEM, and don't be needy around new acquaintances. If some people are talking about getting a burger after a volunteer experience, include yourself. "That sounds good to me!" lets people know you will be there, too. Or, "Mind if I join you" works, too, if you are feeling a little shy.

I just read your comment to Colleen, and I would like to express my sympathy for your loss.
TIME is the best healer, and it will take as long as it takes. Go through the grieving process (there is one) at your own pace, but you may find it helpful to join a grief or loss group or see a therapist to help you understand your grief process better.

Adopt a more positive attitude about life

and you won't be alone any more.

    Like attracts like.

JUST SUNG THAT SONG!!! WOOO FEELING SO PUMPED!!!

For everyone, there is a time for greiving, for we all have to go through it at one point or another. But, there also comes a time to begin living for today...being in this moment where you are now. You can't live today, when you spend all your time thinking about what was. After so much thinking about and wanting the past back...it begins to become unhealthy for living in the here and now. At some point, you need to begin to look around you and to the future.

Many people like living alone, as they don't have to answer to anyone, or be answerable to anyone. No waiting for anyone, just getting up and heading out the door, and heading anywhere you choose. There's a whole world out there of things to do, and see, and share with others that you meet along the way. Ever hear of the story about the man who complained about not having any shoes...until he looked and saw the man with no legs? Sometimes we just need to be thankful for all we do have, and begin appreciating the gift of it...for every day we are here is a gift, and we should never lose sight of that fact. Everything can change in a moment, so enjoy what you have, while you have it.

    Dardaigh

    I totally agree, Shootah.
When he first posted his question, he never mentioned his deceased girlfriend.
Nearly five years of grieving is not healthy.

Sorry for your loss. I too need to be alone at times. Self imposed exile.

Be carefull what you ask for, being lonely is not all bad could be a time for recocilation to your thought with the all KNOWING Master, so think carefully what it is it what your looking for in life.

I LOVE staying home!!!!! Actually I'm Home alone right now!!!!! Its so fun!!! Im with my dog and we are watching TV together!!!

I think you are hurt .

I will suggest you to have patience .
