    interchanging motors

I have a 1990 Dodge B-250 conversion van with a 318ci/5.2Lt. engine. I bought a 318ci/5.2Lt. Magnum motor that came out of a 1992 Dodge Ramcharger. I fully expected to have to use the intake from my vans motor to qualify/pass California's smog tests. However. The shop I have hired to do the engine swap tells me that there is no way this engine will work/fit in my van. They claim the transmission won't bolt up to the block. Is this correct

The 318 (5.2) should work just fine, it was used in various Dodge cars and Trucks from 1967 to 2002.

And where might I find a bell housing adapter? Dealer part or performance/speed shop?
