The electric cooling fan is esigned to come on automaticly whenever the HVAC is set to "AC" or "Defrost."
The only other time it is designed to come on is if the coolent temperature reaches a preset temperature.
The fact that it comes on when set to "AC," indictes to me that it is working properly.
If you notice the coolent temperature is above normal, then take it to a dealer for inspection and repair, WBMS.
