The Greek word capillary means an object that has a diameter or hair. In anatomy (the study of animal/human organs' names), a capillary is a small blood vessel that connects arterioles, which stem off from arteries, with venules, which deliver blood to veins. A capillary can also be any small tube with small diameter that can hold liquid by capillary force.
