If the photo album in iPad is saved in a folder, highlight the folder and click the little black circle that on its corner. The folder will be deleted. If the black circle doesn't appear, open the folder and delete all the content inside. Once it's empty the folder will automatically delete.
If the photo album is in iPhoto, highlight the album within the application, then select the DELETE option in the tool bar.
