Most Ebooks are commonly in .pdf file format. So, you may need or want to download a program that can read in that format if you don't already have one, such as Acrobat or Adobe Reader (uncheck Yes, install McAfee Security Scan Plus on the Adobe download) or Foxit Reader . All these programs are free. You should then be able to download free Ebooks to your computer and open them with the program you downloaded.
