    What happened to the Aborigines who lived within the Woomara area once it was decided to put in a rocket range?

    Many of them claim to have been poisoned by radiation during the Maralinga tests & are currently sueing the British Govt.


    60 or so aboriginal children died during the tests unexplicably over the decade or so that the tests were carried out.


    The aboriginal people were transported out of the area until after it was cleaned up.There is some doubt as to whether the cleanup was successful.


    About 50 indigenous people now live where the test site was.


    Woomera is about 600 km away from the Maralinga test site.
