Thanks for your prompt answer Colleen. However the edition of FSX that I have is 2006. I'm reluctant to actually install this on my computer which has the Win7 OS on it in case it stuffs things up.
Sorry, I did not note that the other was not the gold edition.

Seeing that apparently the version of FSX that I have is incompatible with Win7 we have an unfortunate situation. Microsoft has not developed any later version that is compatible with Win7. Looks like the end of FSX for me.
