Your brain sends signals to the area where you have pain they can kill off nerves so that the responses are not so bad, but this would depend on where the pain is located and how long you have had the pain.

Doctors prescribe codine or other pain killers which over time can become very addictive, with correct pain management and the tools to manage your pain you will move along just fine , you will still have pain but your mind will not concentrate on it, you have to learn to leave the pain in the shadows and allow your mind to flourish, when your body can not ...

The brain doesn't actually feel pain to it.  For this reason, you could do brain surgery with the patient awake.

    They dont work though :(

Try to switch off and rest it for a while.

    Do you refer to painkillers?

I think they are talking about pain signals that are sent to a part in the body, like the main pain receptor in your brain can it be turned off, which it can but there are too many risks doing this as you may not feel the pain of a heart attack ect.
