I got in trouble with the law 38 years ago.Was ultimately convicted of a misdemeanor,Possesion and concealment of stolen property,However for what ever reason about 7 or 8 years ago I was denied entering Canada baecause they said the FBI has a record of burglary on me,which is not accurate, but none the less, will that prevent me from getting a passport?

No, it shouldn't, unless the crime you committed is a little more hard core.  If you don't try to apply for a passport, the answer is always NO.
