No, shingles is a re-occurrence of a previous chicken pox infection.

There is a vaccination available to avoid the re-occurrence, however

I'm not a Doctor, but I payed one is summer theater, back in my college days   ;-)

i DIDN`T KNOW THERE WAS A VAX!!..Thanks....I`ll ask my GP re it ...as I have had it 3 times...it rears up when you forget to eat:-¬..and are sleepless n rundown in general...have found that the antiviral drugs/creams are much better these days but it is excruciatingly painful!...Thanks for that Jack!!:-)

i know of a home remedy for shingles. peel raw potatoes, then grate like hashbrowns. then like a poulstice put the potatoes directly on sores cover with a gauze cloth and leave for one hour. do this 3 times a day
