how can I unlock my hotmail account when they want to send a 'code' to an email address I have not used for 10 years and don't know the password for?

I cannot access my hotmail account since Monday night  because 'someone may have got into my account and sent some spam' is what Hotmail are saying.

When they ask me if I would like a code and I click the yes box, they are telling me it will go to a hotmail address that I don't use and haven't got a password for.   I have however got a BT hotmail address but I cannot enter it into the address line as there is this unusable email address permamently there; so iot's stalemate.

I'm assuming the code is to be used as your new password but it's true, if they send it to Hotmail, you will not be able to get in to see it. Is there a message area where you can tell them to use the BT address?

Have you tried using the reset page? You just have to answer some security questions and then reset your password from the reset page > https://account.live.com/password/reset
