A geek is a term used to describe a person who is in love with the power of technology. The term 'nerd' refers to people who are more book-smart then technologically smart. While a nerd can be a geek and vise versa, the term 'nerd' is separate from that of 'geek'. Nerds often prefer books and obscure subject matters rather then being around actual people. Socially awkward creatures, the nerd might spend a lot of time at a computer, however, instead of fixing computers like a geek does, a nerd will use the computer to socialize, as indirect contact with other people is preferable to them.
