          check thr serial number...the last 4 digits give the month and the year of production.....0403....means march of 2003.i have been in thetire bus..for 45 years,i sure as hell should know this.

            At a guess, you are all American.

            In the UK you can have the depth of a tyre measured for free, but I guess they would expect it to be ON the vehicle.

            Personally, whatever else I did without I would never buy a second hand tyre: too dangerous.
