Because they act only as a representative of a buyer or a seller of something, they never take "Possession" of the "Equity" or "Product."

They get paid a commission for finding someone for the other side of the transaction and completing the deal.

    From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

The word "broker" derives from Anglo-Normandian brocour "small trader," of uncertain origin, but possibly from Old French brocheor "wine retailer," which comes from the verb brochier "to broach (a keg)."

broker is an individual or party (brokerage firm) that arranges transactions between a buyer and a seller.
