      In the US it Depends on the time and rate at which one must depreciate an item, set by the IRS


      Commercial Fleets for instance must depreciate their vehicles over five years, or 300.000.000 miles, which ever occurs first, even if the no long own the vehicle


      Rental property must be deprecated over thirty years
