There is a serious problem with metal theft in many countries. Bronze plaques on war memorials, copper wire from railway catenaries, iron railings etc. The problem is that pikey scrap metal dealers are paying cash so the sales have no records. All scrap transactions should be recorded also registration numbers of vehicles will stop these thefts.
