    What does "I need him lighting up on me" means?

    A lot would probably depend upon what context it was used in. Knowing that, would be the only way someone could truly tell you what was meant by it.

    To me, it sounds as though you might have misspelled a word: Lighting up should probably be lightening up. If that is the case, they are saying that you need someone to take it easy on you. Hope this helps!
