Drain some radiator fluid into a clean container, when th engine is cool.
Remove the bolts holding the thermostat housing, at the engine end of the upper radiator hose.
Remove the thermostat. Clean both metal surfaces
Replace the gasket and install a know good thermostat. Return the drained radiator fluid.
Start the engine, let it warm up, then check for leaks
