They are 'paid' with our respect!  They are paid when we are respectful of others on this site!  They are paid when they request you do or don't do something and you politely comply!  They are paid when you do not challenge them on a request or moderator comment!  They should be paid cash- they do this out of devotion to this site and to keep us members in line- which is a huge task sometimes!!!!!!!!
