    What is the difference between a blood test and a blood culture

    They look for different things.

    Blood cultures look for/at infection types...bood test routine...general test looks at red cell count,Hb..White cells,liver function,..to name but a few...(White cell count raised is indicative often of an infection)...but cultures more specific...deciding on infection type etc for accurate treatment..eg to decide which anti bio may be required!
