        You can poison for them (try 7 dust or borax) but be careful around pets. Leave the mix on for 24 hours and take into account any rain. They are a pain, right?

          I use to stand in the smoke of smoldering oak (tree) leaves and rub the smoke into my clothes and exposed skin when going fishing to deter biting insects. It seemed to work well for a while. I think marigold or pyrethrum works better.
