In common usage, theft is the taking of another person's property without that person's permission or consent with the intent to deprive the rightful owner of it.

Here's a list of synonyms, civil and no so much:  It's missing "abscond".

BOB, the question is looking for equivalent of theft in a civil way rather than criminal. You have given the list which i think borders on criminal rather than civil.

Is there a civil way to commit theft?

    Hmm! Yes there is Phyliss.
Sometimes the police will not prosecute due to the lack of evidence. That does not mean that a civil suit won't be successfull.

    Trespass to chattels.

A month ago? Sorry about the wait.

...and least we forget "Rhode Island Politician".  Our Speaker of the House just resigned a day after a visit from the FBI, IRS and State Police to both his home and office!

Civil theft is : An employee doing private work on company time.  That is  'stealing' from employer. 2. stay at a hotel and take toiletaries as if yours.  It is for your use not to take it home!

I see what you mean. Your first example makes sense. Hotel toiletries are there for us to use and take home; they aren't left half-used for the next guest.
