    Are eggs consider to be meat?

    Just because eggs come from a chicken is it consider meat?

      Eggs are considered a dairy product by the USDA.  However, some vegetarians and all vegans refuse to eat them because they are chicken eggs.

        I know vegans don't eat dairy products but it seems as if it does no harm to the hen or a cow giving milk! I guess I don't understand why they have a problem with these things!

        This is what several dif. veagans have said- cow's milk is meant for baby cows and well, they believe all eggs should be/ or are fertilized.

        They are considered a dairy food but are protein, from things I have read recently they are no longer considered to increase cholesterol
