    I do not know what it was in Ireland, but I do know the Irish coal miners in eastern Pennsylvania took home around $2.90 a WEEK for working 12 hours a day for six days a week.


    They were the guys that eventually led to the others who formed that first Unions, aided by Republican Precedent Teddy Roosevelt,  that led to the 40 hour week.
