Atmospheric pressure is 14,7 PSI, at sea level. ( Known as ONE Atmosphere)
The Atmospheric pressure DECREASES, at the rate of approximately one half of one atmosphere, per 1,000 feet increase in elevation.
Therefor, Absolute Pressure = Guage pressure + Atmospheric pressure
In scientific circles, a "standard atmosphere" has been defined that specifies the temperature, pressure, and density of the air from sea level to an altitude of over 50 miles. The base line of this standard is taken as 29.92 in/Hg at sea level at a temperature of 59 F.standard
