    how can I make a vertical line on my computer

    I am working on my family tree and to show who is descended from my mother I need to make a vertical line. How can I do this on my computer?

      The key directly underneath your backspace key may have a vertical line on top and a back-slash on the bottom. If not;


      If your using MS Word, you can place your cursor on the spot where you want the line or arrow and at top of the window you will click on INSERT.


      Then at the top right of the window you will click on SYMBOL, then choose an arrow. Sorry I don't find a plain vertical line :(
