Don't know much about small engine repair but my guess probably the seal at the crank. Hard to believe a cracked block but all things are possible. I would clean it spotless--then start it up for a few minutes. shut it down pull the plug wire for safety and look under the housing around the blade shaft and look around the engine block. - Your best bet is just take it to a small engine repair shop and let them diagnose it.
