In time, the pain should go away and he should be just fine, if the vet says he has no broken bones, he's hopfully only bruised.....let him rest as much as he wants to. My dog had the same thing happen to him and it took about a week or so for him to be himself again.

Yeah but look for any sign of swelling or inflammation.
Ask the Vet for some kind of painkiller and make him as quiet and comfortable as you can.Do not give him people painkillers!My big dog lunged out the back of a slow moving pick-up once and was sore for a few days,even groaning when he moved around.Call your Vet about a painkiller.Peace.

Yeah - never give animals human painkillers (analgesia) - for example aspirin can kill a cat.
