    1 Answer

    2b+6.7=12.9

    Get (2b) by itself. So, do the opposite of addition, which is subtraction. Subtract 6.7 on both sides.

    2b + 6.7 - 6.7 = 12.9 - 6.7

    2b = 6.2

    Now, divide by 2 on both sides  to get (b) by itself.

    2b/2 = 6.2/2

    b = 3.1

    Check your answer:  Rewrite the problem and put (3.1) in place of (b).

    2(3.1) + 6.7 = 12.9

    6.2 + 6.7 = 12.9

           12.9  = 12.9
