Multiply the problem and don;t worry about the decimal points until you get the answer. When you get the answer, starting with the last number on the right, count to the left how many numbers you see after the decimal point in the problem. That is where you will put the decimal point.
37.4 x 6.47 = ? > Don't worry about the decimal point . Just multiply.
37.4 x 6.47 = 241.978 > There are three numbers after the decimal point. in the problem. So, starting on the right with the last number (8) count three places to the left. The decimal point goes in front of the 9.
A calculator does the problem for you. On paper, working out these types of problems, you are going to have to know where to put the decimal point.
I hope my explanation helps!
