      1 gallon is about 3.5 litres.   
      1 gallon has 128 oz, or 16 cups.  3.5 litres would have about 16 cups.  1/2 litre would have about 2.2857 cups.  1 litre would have about twice that....roughly 4.5714 cups?????

         4 cups because 1 cup equals 250mL and there are 1000mL in a litre. I liter equals about 4 cups.
