x^2-3x-10=10
Remember: FOIL
( x + 2 ) ( x - 5 ) = 10
F > First > x * x = x^2
O > Outer > -5 * x = -5x
I > Inner > 2 * x = 2x
-5x + 2x = -3x
L > Last > 2 * -5 = -10
( x + 2 ) ( x - 5 ) = 10
( x + 2 ) = 10 ( x - 5 ) = 10
x + 2 = 10 x - 5 = 10
x + 2 - 2 = 10 - 2 x - 5 + 5 = 10 + 5
x = 8 x = 15
